David began volunteering with Hilliard Adopt-A-House in June 2009. From 2009 through 2019 he served on 79 days for over 550 hours, helping seven families realize their dream of home ownership.

This is his obituary as it appeared in the Columbus Dispatch:

Yocom, David R., age 68, of Hilliard, Ohio passed away on June 2, 2020. He was born on February 28, 1952 in Byran, Ohio to the late Donald and Dorothy (Ferree) Yocom. David leaves behind his loving wife Karen A. (Lengerich) Yocom; daughters Katherine M. Yocom-Delgado and Rebecca (Victor) Roehm; brother Neal (Judy) Yocom; sister Ruth Yocom.

David honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. David was a teacher for many years at Urbana High School. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life service for David will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that no memorial donations be made but that you donate your time in service to others just as David did.
