Progress continued in October as follows:
- October 1, 2005 - Hilliard Adopt-A-House put a final coat of paint on porch railings, installed kitchen and bathroom cabinets, installed kitchen and bathroom countertops, trimmed doors, finished upstairs baseboard, installed door hardware, puttied nail holes, and installed window sills and half-wall plates.
- October 5, 2005 - Hilliard Adopt-A-House painted the step railing, trimmed windows, doors and half-wall caps, cleaned the basement floor, laid linoleum at the head of the basement stairs and the foyer, puttied drywall anomalies, and painted the front door and frame.
- October 8, 2005 - Hilliard Adopt-A-House finished the wood trim, puttied nail holes, installed bath accessories, washed the basement floor, sanded and cleaned the second floor, painted the exterior doors, cut and installed the stair railings, and began installing closet shelves.
- October 12, 2005 - Hilliard Adopt-A-House fixed the drip edge, put two coats of polyurethane on all stained surfaces, installed cabinet pulls, removed the temporary utility pole, installed door stops, hung bathroom mirrors, installed closet shelving, hung front storm door, cleaned windows, rehung toilet paper dispenser, and did general clean-up inside and out.
- October 15, 2005 - Hilliard Adopt-A-House completed closet shelving, applied third coat of polyurethane, repaired garage door, installed garage door weather strip, put final coat of paint on rear exterior door, secured bathroom mirrors, installed mailbox, completed porch post trim, cleaned exterior thresholds, sanded high spots in main floor, painted basement post, caulked countertops, caulked upstairs baseboards and door trim, hung window blinds, started blinds adjustment, and vacuumed floors.
- October 17, 2005 - Hilliard Adopt-A-House adjusted blinds and applied final coat of polyurethane.
- October 19, 2005 - Hilliard Adopt-A-House painted the garage access door and trim, finished caulking the baseboards and door trim, hung the two remaining cabinet doors and installed hardware, relocated the basement shelves, set concrete around the post in the basement floor, hung the rear storm door, cleaned out the house, laid out and cut drainage tile, and watched Davey's Tree professionals take down the trees next door and remove the stump in our backyard.
- October 29, 2005 - Hilliard Adopt-A-House vacuumed the new carpets, laid carpet protector, installed window screens, puttied nail holes, replaced damaged baseboard trim, fixed drywall dings, painted the gas meter pipes, installed the peep hole, installed home exterior door locks, did paint touch-up, and did general cleaning.
